Comfort needs a care plan
Palliative care is not simply the use of a wellness supplement. AAHA describes it as coordinated management of symptoms and pain, which may accompany treatment aimed at the disease itself. It can include guidance for the family and physical or rehabilitation therapy.
Questions for your veterinarian
- What are the goals of treatment and comfort care?
- Which changes should prompt an urgent call?
- How will we monitor symptoms and treatment response?
- Could any supplement interfere with the existing plan?
Do not assume CBD provides additional benefit
Claims about appetite, comfort or quality of life need evidence for the particular condition and animal. The ASPCA recommends discussing CBD's potential risks and benefits with a veterinarian, especially when a pet takes other medicines. Tell the care team about every product already being given; do not change prescribed treatment independently.
